One euro and forty cents. This is how much our life is worth in the societies that “responsible” representatives and implementers of memoranda politics dream of. But they should not fool themselves. They carry the moral and political responsibility for 19-year-old Thanassi Karnaoutis, the unemployed young man who lost his life while falling out of a streetcar in motion because he did not have a ticket. The governments and the intellectual bellwethers of “responsibility” managed in the previous period to point the finger at the “freeloaders” as the main culprits of the crisis…after they have slandered and accused anybody who tried to resist.

Now, the society that the Greek government, the EU and the IMF aspire to build, with unemployment skyrocketing at 60% among young people, kills its own children? A young man, 19 years old, dead for a streetcar ticket…Meanwhile work has been done towards “arming” the controlling mechanisms with such a profile that they converted the lack of ticket into almost a statutory offense.

Yesterday “freeloaders” were the cause-- unemployed who can’t even afford 1,40 Euros for a ticket. Before, it was all those who resisted to memoranda politics, more recently it was the educators, and a bit earlier the employees at the National Broadcasting. Tomorrow they will target anybody who does not match the government’s “responsibility profile” and “success story” and they will accuse them as culprits for what is in reality their own capitalist crisis.

It is our job to not get used to every day death. It is our job to defeat the misanthropic brutal politics, and well as those responsible for them.

Massively and decisively we need to take the streets and get back our lives and our dreams.

It is our job to struggle to protect the public good and claim free transportation for unemployed and workers.

It is our job to overthrow them!
